TRÄDGÅRDSHUSET # 1 - JÖNKÖPING
2011
Trädgårdshuset derives from a housing concept developed by Arrhov Frick for Peab Bostad in 2010/ 2011.
What are high housing qualities? This issue has been the starting point for the concept which is about combining the main qualities of two housing forms; the good qualities in a villa accommodation with the simple life in an apartment. The building provides apartments with generous terraces and winter gardens with access from all rooms. A typical 3-room, 80 sqm apartment will have about 40 sqm terrace including a winter garden.
In order to achieve this in an economical and constructive perspective the ambition has been to find the most rational and simple basic structure and detailing as possible.

The building consists of 17 floors with 64 apartments. The inner facade consists of wood and the terraces enable a relatively easy maintenance of the facade, if necessary. The ambition is that the expression of the house will be nice, welcoming, lush and vibrant.

The site is just by the border to the city, where a clear urban structure becomes more diversified and small in scale. The building with the vertical terraces could be seen as a blend of the villas to the East, the city to the West and the allotments to the south.
